Live & Upcoming Innovate UK competitions for 2017

Businesses and research organisations can apply to funding competitions to help them develop their innovations

Innovate UK provides funding to support and stimulate innovation in the UK economy. A new sector focus strategy was launched last year and it will continue in 2017, addressing the following 5 main industry sector groups: Emerging and Enabling Technologies; Infrastructure Systems; Health and Life Sciences; Manufacturing and Materials, and a more ‘Open’ programme for applications from any sector. Through these funding programmes, businesses are encouraged to work with other commercial and research organisations to test the feasibility of their idea, research and develop it and demonstrate it in a prototype.

After a first round of competitions, an internal evaluation has been made and as a result some aspects of the application procedure have changed. Thus there could be slight changes into the scope of the competitions from one round to the next. Keep an eye on the details and let us help to develop your idea to increase your chances of success.

The Infrastructure Systems competition is now open. Zabala UK attended the “Infrastructure Systems Competition Round 2 Briefing & Brokerage Event” held in London on the 24th of January organised by Innovate UK and KTN (Knowledge Transfer Network), to get some further insights into this competition. The London event presented a detailed briefing of the application process and also provided  networking opportunities  for delegates wishing to give a short pitch on their capability offering and partner requirements.

The expected opening dates of the main areas are the following:

Competitions Expected opening dates (two rounds)
Infrastructure Systems Jan & Jul
Health & Life Sciences Feb & Sep
Emerging & Enabling technologies Mar & Oct
Manufacturing & Materials May & Nov
Open competition Jun & Dec
